FAQ
Every figure links to its source. Prices as published by the maker, in local currency.
MethodologyYes, but the choice is small. We list 28 campers; 18 of them are listed as orderable, pre-order or in stock, and for 5 this is confirmed by a source from the last twelve months. Most are small-series conversions based on the Kia PV5, Mercedes EQV, VW ID. Buzz or Nissan Interstar-e. Volkswagen’s first factory electric camper (ID. California Cruise) arrives in 2027 at the earliest.
Published ranges run from 174 to 460 km, measured with different methods (WLTP, China’s CLTC cycle or maker figures), so they are only partly comparable. Real-world range is lower, especially in winter and at motorway speed. The range planner applies openly stated deductions and works out the charging stops for your route.
Within the EU it is usually straightforward if the van has EU type approval. Vans from the UK, the US or Japan without EU approval need individual approval and import VAT, and depending on origin also customs duty. See our guide to buying abroad.
Most converters use electric heating or the base vehicle’s heat pump; some still fit a diesel parking heater with its own tank. Either way it costs range or battery energy; each model page lists the solution under “Heating”.
