Hosting and server logs
This website runs on our own server at Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, in a data centre in Germany, under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR); no data is transferred to third countries. The server does not log ordinary page views. Only requests to typical attack paths (such as login pages of other systems or hidden files) are recorded for defence, with a shortened IP address, and deleted after 14 days (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Browser storage
We set no cookies. Your browser’s local storage keeps only your settings: colour scheme, selected country, your comparison selection and, if you choose, your opt-out from audience measurement. This data never leaves your device.
Fonts, images, scripts
We serve all fonts, images and scripts ourselves. Nothing is loaded from other servers. Links to makers and sources open other websites only when you click them.
Videos (YouTube)
Videos first appear only as a still image from our server. Only when you click “Play video” is the video loaded via youtube-nocookie.com from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Your IP address and technical data are then transmitted to Google; a transfer to the USA is possible (Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). The legal basis is your consent given by the click (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Audience measurement
We count page views with the open-source software Matomo on our own server in Germany. Matomo runs here without cookies, shortens the IP address, respects “Do Not Track” and builds no cross-site profiles. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in anonymous usage statistics (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
