Range planner
Will it make it to the coast?
Pick a van or enter your own figures. The planner turns the official range into a realistic one and works out the charging stops.
How we calculate
- Official figures are optimistic. We apply 85% to WLTP, 95% to EPA, 70% to CLTC and 85% to maker figures.
- Season: summer 100%, spring/autumn 90%, winter 72% (heating, cold battery).
- Speed: up to 100 km/h 100%, about 120 km/h 82%, 130 km/h and above 70%. Campers are tall and boxy, so drag matters more than in a car.
- Load: light 100%, medium 95%, fully loaded with roof box or bikes 87%.
- First leg from 100% to 10%, then legs from 10% to 80%. Charging averages 55% of peak power, plus 8 minutes to pull in and plug in.
- Driving time at an average 85 km/h (including towns and rural roads), breaks not included.
A rough estimate, not a guarantee. Real figures depend on the van, weather, route and charger.
